Achieving ‘Net Zero’ Targets: Roadmap for Institutional Investors
In 2020, much of the world realised the importance of ESG and the serious issues surrounding climate change and biodiversity.
Governments and institutions are now formally committing to do more by legislating or setting “Net Zero” targets in the near future. This will have a major impact on economies and markets.
In this webinar Steve Waygood, Aviva Investors’ Chief Responsible Investment Officer (CRIO) will discuss:
- Why all financial institutions need to adapt quickly to the impending challenges
- Opportunities facing superannuation funds and institutional investors in the quest for “Net Zero” targets
- The development of a comprehensive plan
- How investors can start to invest differently
COP26 Glasgow Update
Steve Waygood is also currently involved with COP26 which the UK government is hosting in Glasgow in November. He will discuss the UK Government’s key objectives for COP26 and how that may impact Australia.
This meeting in Glasgow is expected to be just as important as the 2015 Paris COP meeting that achieved so much and set the world on the right path.
Global Plan for Climate Finance
To achieve the Paris target, we need enhanced international cooperation between public and private financial institutions to implement a global climate finance plan. Government promises and commitments are simply not enough. The focus needs to be on significantly raising the total of private capital invested in climate adaptation and mitigation solutions globally.
Steve will discuss the proposal to create an International platform for Climate Finance from the rare alignment of G7, G20 and COP26 during 2021.
