ICWA has appointed Steve McKenna as its new CIO, following the departure of Julie O’Neill
The Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA) has appointed Steve McKenna as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO). McKenna will start on 29 July and will be based in Perth, WA.
McKenna succeeds Julie O’Neill, who left the insurer to join the Victorian Funds Management Company (VFMC) as Head of Client Portfolio Design in May this year, reporting to VFMC CIO Russell Clarke.
McKenna is well-known for his time with TCorp, where in his last role he was Head of Investment Strategy & Asset Allocation. He was also CIO of iCare, before the fund merged into TCorp.
McKenna is no stranger to Perth, as he was also previously the CIO of super fund GESB.
More recently, McKenna was Chief Economics Adviser to the Premier of NSW, Gladys Berejiklian, and an Investment Strategist at Macquarie Group.
