Asset consultant JANA has appointed five new Heads of Departments, including one external hire.
JANA has appointed five new Heads of Departments, including external hire Chris Worthington as Head of Quantitative Analysis & Risk.
Worthington joined the firm from New Zealand Super, where he worked for more than 10 years, most recently as Senior Investment Strategist, Asset Allocation.
In his role, Worthington will help to drive JANA’s continued development of research relating to quantitative approaches, techniques, risk management and modeling.
JANA also promoted four consultants to Head of Department roles.
Andrew Cassar has been appointed as Head of Australasian Equities, responsible for JANA’s Australian Equities investment manager and capital markets research, portfolio construction, and performance outcomes for client Australian Equities portfolios.
Iain North takes up the position of Head of Alternatives, leading the Alternatives research team and portfolio development, as well as assisting in the development of clients’ sustainability journeys.
Courtney Wilder has been appointed as Head of Portfolio Design, responsible for leading the development of JANA’s client advice as it pertains to Portfolio Design. Wilder has worked over 13 years at JANA, including over seven years as Head of Alternative Investment Research.
Finally, Gary Wilson has been promoted to Head of Capital Markets Group, responsible for leading the insight into JANA’s investment strategy, including revenue forecasting, strategy and operational requirements.

“Our clients will be well-serviced by this combination of elevating our existing staff into new leadership roles, who have many decades worth of experience and are fully embedded into JANA’s research-first philosophy, alongside new talent in Chris Worthington who brings a new perspective to our fast-growing quantitative risk team,” he said.
Courtney Wilder, Chris Worthington and Gary Wilson will report to Kirsten Temple, General Manager of Investment Strategy, while Andrew Cassar and Iain North will report to Anthony Ballard, General Manager of Research at JANA.
